August: Celebration of our patron saint St. Augustine. We celebrate St. Augustine with a Field Day. Students sport the school colors (blue and gray) and compete in intramural games.
September: The Spanish department organizes our annual Independence Day Celebration. Students dance, sing, and recite in celebration of our culture and independence.
October: The Religion Department leads the school through the Month of the Missionary Rosary. Every week, students are given a ribbon representing a continent (five ribbons of different colors in total). The ribbons serve as reminders to pray for missionaries in the different continents.
St. Augustine celebrates Creation Week with the Feast of St. Francis. During this week the school invites guest speakers to share information on environmental issues and projects.
November: The Sports Committee of the APF organizes ¨Los Goleadores¨ an annual mini-soccer tournament.
St. Augustine celebrates Thanksgiving Day by sharing a meal together.
December: The school celebrates La Purisima, a traditional celebration of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. In this school wide event students sing and pray la novena.
St. Augustine Preparatory School celebrates Christmas with shows and a nativity scene exposition.
¨Multiplication of Talents¨: 6th grade students are each given C$ 200 that through entrepreneurship they must ¨multiply¨. The profits are used to throw a Christmas Party for underprivileged children.
January: The Spanish department organizes ¨Jornada Dariana,¨ a national celebration to honor Nicaragua´s most famous poet, Ruben Dario. During the three weeks the celebration last students recite his poem, write short stories and learn about his life among other things.
February: The APF organizes ¨Family Sunday, ¨ and opportunity for students, parents and teachers to celebrate the school and school year with games, activities, music and food.
Every other year St. Augustine hosts a Science Fair for students from 7th to 12th grade.
March: Annually Secondary School students compete in the Copernicus Cup, a math competition.
April: Throughout the school year St. Augustine prepares all its 3rd graders to receive their first communion. Students who wish to receive this sacrament with their classmates in April are free to do so.
Every other year the school celebrates ¨Dolphins Around the World¨ a weeklong event in which students have the opportunity to learn about the different cultures and countries of the world. Each section represents a country and all elementary students get to ¨travel¨ through the countries.
May: St Augustine prepares its 10th grade students for the sacrament of Confirmation throughout the school year. Confirmations take place in May.
Mother´s Day at St. Augustine is celebrated through shows, plays, breakfasts, and in-classroom activities.
June: Seniors Graduate. St. Augustine takes great pride in our students’ high college acceptance rate.
Summer: As part of the PASCH program students are also eligible for scholarships for a summer German language and culture immersion program. For the past three summers, students from St. Augustine have traveled to different parts of Germany as part of this program.
